GAA almost over!!!!

Wow! Another year down... I have to say this year was much less stressful. Experience really pays off! Next year I will be even more prepared, but I'm in no hurry :)   I hope mine "exceed expectations" again this year. I can never count on it because it all depends on who is the portfolio evaluator. For example, last year I adminstered the same assignments to 2 students, same prompts, same write-ups. They both exceeded in general but on one entry (Lang Arts- writing) one exceeded and one did not even meet! How does that make sense. I hope I have the evaluators who are in good moods. Haha!  With the expectations my administration places on me, I better exceed... Damn! One of my co-workers (Autism program, which is new this year) is feeling the stress of the first year and I feel horrible for her. I know what she is going through. No one ever will know what the GAA entails unless they have to administer them.  She will do fine though, I have faith! Friday Happy Hour is a neccessity this week! LOL!
On another positive note.... I was nominated for Teacher of The Year today! I am disqualified though because I am going through tenure this year, you have to have 3 full years and tenure under your belt to qualify. But still it's cool, especially to see a SPED nominated!  Now, on to IEP's...... wish me luck!

Congratulations on the nomination! I was Teacher of the Year in 2006 and a top 10 finalist for the district (out of 5000 teachers) and I was surprised that a sped teacher got that far. After reading your blog, I'm sure this won't be your last nomination so I look forward to hearing about the others after you get tenure. :)
